A journey through a Tunnel of trees, Chapter two, a mystery to solve

Chapter two, A mystery to solve

Casey and I are walking down the path before we hear something behind us. We stop and I say “I think I know what that is.”
“So do I,” Casey says.
We spin round slowly and find the big monster five paces following us. I nudge Case with my arm and say “Run.”

I run with Lizard not far behind me to the same tree I hid behind the first I time met the big thing. Casey steps out and I say “CASEY DON’T!”
Too late. She gets picked up and thrown into the electric fence. I use magic to make the monster run away.

I run over to Casey to make sure she is too badly hurt. She is awake but only a little. I ring Mum to come get us. “Mum said she will come in about an hour,” I say to Casey.

An hour passes and Mum is still not here. In the paddock we see a cow. “Moo!” it says
“Hello! My name is Flossie the cow. I am so lonely here. I want someone to be my friend, or friends.”
Casey and I both say  “Why can the cow talk?”
“I can talk because a witch put a spell on me. I am really a normal girl like you two. Now, what is the problem over here girlies?”  Flossie says.
“Casey has been thrown into the fence and has been hurt but it isn’t that bad. My Mum isn’t here yet so could I put her on your back and you take her to my house?” I say.
“Who? Your mum or Casey?”
“Uh, Casey of course. She is the one hurt here!”
“Oh yeah. I knew that!”
“No you didn’t!”

“Just get Casey on my back.”

We get home, me, Lizard and Flossie the cow.  I put Case on the couch.
“What can we do to turn you back into a normal girl again?” I say to Flossie.
“I was watching when Fred threw your friend into the fence and then you used magic to frighten him off. I was wondering if you can use some of that magic to turn me back into a normal girl again. MOO!”
“Is Fred the big hairy monster?” I ask.
“Yes he is.” Flossie says.
“Ok, I will use my magic to you back into a normal girl again.”

POOF! PANG! POOF!
My magic goes. Then suddenly, very suddenly, a girl appears and she says,  “IT WORKED! I AM A NORMAL GIRL AGAIN! Thank you Kazzie.”
“Your welcome. Do you know everything about Fred and could you possible tell us?” I say.
“I can but you will have to listen carefully because I get a little mucked up. I have only been a cow for two years and Fred has been around for at least fifteen years. If someone is walking down the road he would come out and follow them then at the right time he would start running after them then once Fred has caught up to them he would throw them into the fence and the person would be injured plus no one would know and the person would slowly die a horrible death.”
“Lucky Casey wasn’t one of them.” I say.
“Are talking about me? I think you are because I am so
GORGEOUS!!

“Yeah we are Lizard. I think we need to find a bit more information about Fred. Will it be on the internet?”
“Might be. I don’t know.”

“I have an idea!” I say. “We go out tonight at twelve o'clock and try and find Fred. Then I will use some magic and make Fred tell us why he does all these things he does. It will last for about an hour and a half. Sound like a plan?”
Everyone says it is.
We go out at twelve o'clock and wait till we hear Fred.

This is the second chapter of ‘A journey through a Tunnel of trees’. Don’t too freaked out about our safety when we try to find Fred. Hope you like my writing and please comment.

Snoopy the Robot letter to his family.

Dear Family  16/7/12

Wherever you are I want you to be with me. I love you and I wonder about you everyday. I want know how you are getting on, how little Nemo my little fishie is getting on, how Lila is with her new baby robot.

Not a day goes by without me talking to myself and pretending you are with me. So one sunny day I jumped on a thing that went ‘CLICKITY CLACK!’ It was going on a long metal road to somewhere. I clambered on and walked to a little spot to fall asleep.

Twenty minutes later the thing came to a stop I hopped off and looked around to see where I was. No sign of you guys. Suddenly I heard loud noises coming from behind me, I spun round to see what it was and the next thing I knew was I nearly got squashed into a metal pancake. Then I heard another noise but that was far away. I started to run. I just couldn’t take this place, it’s too dark, too scary, too miserable and too noisy.

I started walking and then I stood on a leaf and it reminded me of where I belong. Not in some loud, miserable, dull and scary place.

Please reply dear family,

Love from Snoopy.

This is my 'Snoopy the Robot. Letter to his family' We had a look at a little video called The Lone robot. Here is the LINK to the website.  I made the heart on paint.

A journey through a tunnel of trees. Chapter one, The Tunnel and the Monster.

Chapter one, The Tunnel and the Monster

I am walking through a tunnel of branches. I can feel the cool breeze on my back, I see up ahead a delicate golden sunset, I smell flowers of different types, I hear the flutter of bird wings, I taste the gravel that has been picked up and swept into my face by the wind.

I am travelling to my house that is at the end of this road. Then I hear a footstep behind me. I spin round to find a big black figure five paces behind me following.
I run.

I run as fast as I can until I find a tree big enough to fit me behind so I can hide. I wait for an hour. “That thing must be gone by now.” I whisper to myself. I come out of my hiding place only to see the big black thing right in front of me. “Hi.” I say scaredly.
“I’m just going to....”
I run away again

I keep running and I miss the driveway to my house!  “What is that thing and where is it?” I say to myself. I then stopped in my tracks and looked behind me.  Nothing. Absolutely nothing so I spin round and find I am standing in front of a gigantic thing. It is hairy and brown and stinks like rotten fish and cow poo.
“I think you are in the wrong place at the wrong time!” the giant says. “GO BEFORE I PICK YOU UP AND THROW YOU INTO THE ELECTRIC FENCE OVER THERE!”
Again, I run.

The next day, I told Mum that I was going to Casey’s and she says “Ok. Be back at seven pm. Take your phone!”

I arrive at Casey’s and she says that we should go to the forest.
“The one that is on the way to my house?” I say, frightened.
“Well yeah, it’s the only forest around.”

So we go for a walk to the forest and on the way I tell Lizard what happened yesterday afternoon. “Whoa! That is weird. Tell me again because I wasn't listening.”
“SERIOUSLY!” I yell in anger.

This is my writing of a journey through a tunnel of trees. This is the first chapter and the second chapter is coming.

Here is the picture that we had to make the story about. We all used our senses in our writing and there is a list of them on the picture.

The Scary poem!

Here is me and Casey recording our 'Scary Poem' that we did with Mrs Mac and here are the words so you can read along. Hope you enjoy!

There once was a lizard that traveled through a snow blizzard.
He would creep out at night to have a fight while you go to sleep he would go beep like an alarm clock, he will come in and undo lock.

There was a moan outside and groan inside. What will it be? Lets go out and see.

We walked out of the castle and saw his muscle, and he scrambled us like eggs, then he hung us on the washing line by our legs with pegs.

Once we got down he stood there with a frown. His friend behind him was acting like a clown.

The clown was so scary we said: "Oh my god you are so hairy!" The clown was embarrassed and had a fit but the evil lizard hit him and told him he was being a wuss.

The friends went back into the castle when we heard a hustle and bustle within the castles walls. When we turned around we saw a mouse and then he said: "Get out of my house!"

There was a vampire eating garlic we thought this was odd but then he saw us and he jumped up and bit us in the neck but before we died we said: “What the heck?”

The Auckland Mouse and the Hawke's Bay Mouse

The Auckland Mouse and the Hawke’s Bay Mouse
Based on The Town mouse and the Country Mouse
Let me tell you about two mice that one day decided to visit each other.
Once upon a time an Auckland mouse caught a plane to Hawke’s Bay to visit his cousin. Now this mouse had name and it was Lucas. His cousin’s name was Tim.
Luke (short for his real name) had on his new suit he got from the drycleaners, a suitcase with some of his summer clothes and some more suits because Auckland mousey was going to stay in sunny Hawke’s Bay for a week.
Luke set off on his way to The Fruit Bowl Hawke’s Bay via Taupo for a stop. Down in the Bay Tim was preparing his mouse hole for his cousin coming.
He was moving his furniture round and dusting, vacuuming and he was also making Mac and Cheese for tea. He just finished vacuuming before his cousin knocked on the door.
“Hello there Timmy! I haven't seen you in ages!”
“Same here Lucas!” replied Tim. They sat down and Luke explained about his city he lives in and about his job. “My mouse hole is amazing! It is very flash with wall lights and a cheese oven! Maybe your mousehole needs a bit of a spruce up! Come to Auckland with me and you will find out really how to live!”
They set out on their adventure to Auckland!

“Now this is my mousehole. See, see, see I got my own letterbox! That is FLASH!  Ooh! Mail. Shall we go inside Timmy?”
“Yes we shall! But can we have a look around the outside your mousehole?” replied Tim.
“Ah... Yes we can. Follow me!”
So Tim followed Luke to the back yard. There he saw his garden, trees, maze and spa! (Complete with staff and massages.) Pool, BBQ area and Outside lounge.
“This is all so flash Lukey but how much did this all cost?” complimented Tim.
“Umm well I have a job and I make money because I am 2IC at Shortland Street hospital and I don’t mean to brag but I get hundred dollars a fortnight. So that is how I can get all of this and still pay the bills!!”
After Tim had seen the outside it was time for the inside and for some tea of ‘Luke’s Surprise!’. A special mix of food. “So how did you like the back yard Timmy?”
“It was awesome, but do you have any cattle or sheep? I do in my backyard.”
Lucas hesitated for a minute and then said “Well no but you have because you live on a farm! Dah!”

At last a week flew by and it was time for Tim to go back down to Hawkes Bay and buy some flash stuff for his house but not too flash.

“I’ll miss you Cuz!” says Lucas.
“I will too Lukey. We might have to catch up next month,” replied Tim.

The next month Lucas drove down to Hawke’s Bay and the two caught up again.

Bye.

This is my retelling of The Town Mouse and Country Mouse. I did it at home and did some of it at school. It is based on The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse. This is the New Zealand version. Hope you like it!

Letter to Vicky M Jones.

Dear Vicky M Jones

Hi, my name is Kazza. (Thats my nickname. My actual name is Katherine.) I am in a digital class and typing a letter to you of your book ‘Buddy’.  A digital class is a normal class but we all have netbooks that are our own. I am 11 years old and going to Parkvale School Hastings New Zealand.

Our class just finished reading your wonderful book ‘Buddy’.
It was very touching and sad. The chapter ‘Going for gold’ was awesome. My favorite part was when Chantal gave Shane a turn down and said that she rather walk to her bike and carry her own bag by herself. When we read that part all the girls were like “Turned down!” It was so funny. I have written a story before last year that we turned into a book.

I love your book and it is very intriguing. If I had to choose what to read I would choose ‘Buddy’.  How do you come up with all these ideas? The book didn’t say what the accident of Buddy (Jake) was. What was it that made him disabled?  Was it that time in Josh’s dream of the swimming pool?

When I was writing my Neelix diary I was thinking up all these great ideas and it turned out to be four pages long. I have now started ‘Neelix Diary 2 Vet visit. NOOOOO!’ and I shared it my whole class because they love him.

My favorite characters are Chantal, Josh and Jake. My favorite chapter is ‘Going for Gold’ because Josh chose his brother over winning and it has a lot of good language and it is very exciting.

Please write more interesting books and please write back.

Yours truly
Kazza Ann Levick and Room 20

This is my Letter to V M Jones about her book 'Buddy'. Read it and make comments. Hopefully she while comment as well.

My Plastic Debate

Dear Hastings District Council,

Don’t you think that there are too many plastic bags floating around Hawke’s Bay? I think that plastic bags should be banned from New Zealand.

Plastic bags are deadly and can get blown away with the wind, causing them to end up in the ocean. Sinking down to the bottom because of getting filled with water. Fish swim around and get caught in them. Causing them to die. Turtles, dolphins, pelicans and penguins too.

Have you heard of reusable bags? The ones made of fabric. Those are the ones we should use. Every household should have at least ten of them. My mum thinks that we should as well. They save trees and animals.

Why should we use plastic bags? Well we shouldn’t because they don’t break down in a landfill and get stuck on animals and they suffocate to death. I’m only 11 and I know that!

I think that we should ban all plastic bags from New Zealand and keep this country beautiful! Ban plastic bags and make more reusable material bags.

Yours Sincerely
Katherine Levick. Parkvale School Hawkes Bay.

My Fotobabble Autumn poem

In Autumn

The fallen leaves crunching
under foot

The trees slowly changing colour,

turning brown, gold, yellow and red.

The cold breeze

freezing you like the iceberg that sunk the Titanic.

The temperature is changing, getting colder and colder.

The air outside is cool
and you can smell smoke coming from chimneys nearby.

7/05/2012 Monday 7:48 pm

Dear Diary
So I am outside in the cold in the orchard watching the night sky. The moon is awesome, it looks like a big ball of swiss cheese! I mean it like literally does! I wonder what the owners of me are doing right now. I know that Dad is on the computer and that Kazza is reading a book about the human body. Did you know that there are 27 bones in the human hand? And that the human tongue has four taste buds? There are sour on the left and right side and bitter at the back and sweet and salty at the front. Any way back to me I am back home and I licked some bowls clean and had a drink of water and now on Dad’s seat.  My Diary is now finished and that is it for this month and a bit.

There will be more five days before my birthday and onwards. In November.

Neelix!

How not to dress for an 80's party!

How not to dress for an 80’s party.
I am here to tell you how not to dress for an 80’s party. First you don't dress as Michael Jackson crossed with a bird because you will probably look like a FREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!

So don't dress like Lady Gaga gone wrong. No spastic hairdos like an Afro or a Michael Jackson style. If there is dancing don't dance like an dork or you will look like a dork. A party is a public thing not a home thing. By the way you do not and I mean DO NOT put FAKE feathers on to look like a bird, a dorky bird that is.

Thanks for reading and please take all this info in and DON’T dress like a dork if you are invited to an 80’s party.
                                                                                                         Don't dress like this!

This is my How not to dress for an 80's party writing. It is really cool and please take in some info! I wrote it on Google docs.

White-water rafting!

Whitewater rafting.

“Weeeeeeeeeeeee!!!” yelled Stefan. “Whoa, Ow!” I said.
“Bob, Jerry, Bob, Bob, Jerry!” again screamed Stefan.
“What’s up with the ‘Bob and Jerry’ Stefan?” I asked. Whitewater Rafting is so much fun I want to do it everyday, not just today, but EVERYDAY!!!!! “Paddle forward team because we are going to do some 360s!”
“Yay!” I thought to myself.

“Pff!” Went the raft against the rock. “SPLASH!” I got absolutely SOAKED by Bones. Liam was awesome on rafting because The Muffle Puffles (My camp group) did heaps of 360s.

Alex (short for Alexandra) and me asked Liam if we could hang off the side of the raft on the deep calm parts. Well of course we hung on to the side rope and had our feet up but I had to put my feet up on the side of the raft because I couldn’t keep them up myself. “Brrrr!! It’s getting a bit cold in here!” It was getting really cold so Craig pulled me and Alex up by the straps of our life jackets into the raft and we started paddling. “Okay who turned off the light and the heater?” I said to my team because the sun that was keeping me warm and the lighting had disappeared and it shadey. Then the sun came back and we all said “Yay!”

We stopped a little way down from where we started and Dion said “ I thought we should cross the river. So everyone get in your teams and line up along the shore line!” The Strikers went first, then the Chinchillas. Finally it was the Muffle Puffles turn. I was feeling cold, nervous and excited. We lined up along the shore line, linked arms and carefully waded into the water, it was only up to our waist. Dion yelled “Take a step, take another and another!” We kept taking steps until we were halfway into the water. The current was really strong and the river water was extremely cold. “Stop!” Dion called out. We waited a minute and then he said “Take one tiny step backwards!” As we stepped backwards I stood on a rock that wasn’t stable and nearly fell down but Stefan and Alex caught me. We kept taking steps backwards until Dion said “Now at your own pace keep walking until you reach the bank again. The river crossing was awesome!  I wished we could have crossed the whole river.

After we all had a turn at crossing the river, the teams clambered back into the rafts, pushed off from the shore and started to paddle again. One hour later we stopped at a stone bank to have something to eat and some of us had a swim. We then we raced back to our rafts and fought to get out in front of the pack.

Mr G was in a canoe with Tom (Rhys's dad) and they were behind us. We were all happily rafting down the river when Mr G and Tom crashed into a pole holding up the bridge and Mr G fell out!

We finally got THE WHIRLPOOL!!!! Liam asked “Who wants to surf?!”
We all replied “What does that mean?”
He said “I will show you!” We paddled up to the whirlpool and Liam kept saying ‘forward paddle’ or back paddle’. So we did what he said and we kept going into the whirlpool and out of the whirlpool. The Strikers tried and Katrina fell out on the big rapid. She didn’t hurt herself and she did get back in the raft and carried on paddling.

Two hours later we finished. The Polar Bears and The Muffle Puffles helped with putting the rafts on the trailer while the rest of the class got on the bus. There was three on a seat and four on one seat. It was a long road back to camp and our raft had the lunch muffins in it and they got a bit squished.

Finally, back at camp office we grabbed our day bags and got back on the bus to go back to camp. We got dressed and some of the class went down to the dining room to have afternoon tea. Then we had down time to get ready for a long night ahead.

This is my whitewater rafting writing. Hope you like it!:D
